Gap ad campaign. I had to do a double take when I saw these ads in a magazine recently. I mean, c'mon...
black skinny pants, white socks and black loafers? Add the white glove and black hat and you've got Michael Jackson circa 1985. I mean, I realize the 80's are still back and all, but seriously? With WHITE socks?
I don't know... I guess I just don't get the skinny pant trend anyway. The only people that can wear them are tall, skinny models with no hips. Honestly, I'm really sick of all the magazines trying to convince us that skinny pants are "flattering for every body shape!" because that's just a load of bull. Anyone with hips that tries to wear them will only end up looking even wider, and many of these pants (like the ones above) end right at the ankle or slightly above, which means that anyone who's not 5'10" (or super svelt) looks dumpy. I can sorta see wearing them longer, pulled over high heels, but I don't really like that look much either. I'll accept wearing skinny pants tucked inside tall boots, that's about the only way I think they call look good, and that's usually b/c the boots will be a bit chunky and help balance out the rest of your legs and hips.
*Sigh* Do I need to go out and buy a bunch of flared and boot-leg cut pants before they all dissappear?

i'm afraid to try the gap skinnypants. i just don't have the right body for anything gap.
i have to admit though, i do have a pair of skinny jeans, but they have a flower pattern inside so i usually wear them cuffed to capri-length to show it off. but i NEVER wear socks with my skinny pants (i'm not sure what gap was thinking with that)
The ads are supposed to reflect Audrey Hepburn's style circa "Funny Face" not Michael Jackson.
It's not Michael Jackson. It's AUDREY HEPBURN.
Ok, guys, I realize that Gap is aiming for the Audrey Hepburn look. However, Michael Jackson also quite famously sported the black pnats/white sock/black shoes look throughout the 80's (as evidenced here: http://www.starpulse.com/Music/Jackson,_Michael/gallery/18/ sorry, it's the best picture I could find with a minimal search). Whatever Gap's intent was, these ads make me think og Michael Jackson first, not Audrey Hepburn. I doubt I'm alone.
