Psssssst!

I read about Psssssst Instant Spray Shampoo ($5.49) in InStyle over the summer-- supposedly Ken Paves uses this on Jessica Simpson's hair to get extra volume out of it. I've been on a quest for a dry shampoo for a while, yet was unwilling to shell out the big bucks for Bumble & Bumble's version (especially after reading mixed reviews online). So you bet my ears perked up a bit at hearing about this supposed wonder-product that cost a mere $5 bucks!

Before trying it, I did some research online... and I found several reviews that complained that, while this product was pretty amazing, the bottle seemed to be faulty and most of the product would leak out after the first use. Eventually, I decided to try it out anyway. And, well, my experience pretty much echoed the reviews I read at the time-- it worked great at de-greasing my roots, but the 2nd time I tried to use it hardly anything came out at all.

However, tonight as I was looking for a link I found some newer reviews on drugstore.com from the past couple months and they claimed that their bottle last through several uses, so I'm tempted to go buy another bottle and try it out again. I think I can spare another $5 on the hope that they'll have fixed the leakage problem.

I've been wanting to try that, but they don't have it in Canada, though I could (and may well) buy it online. I have used the B&B which is good but way too pricey. I now use one by Hair Fix which I like and is more than Pssssst but less than B&B. Only abvailable online at Ebay or http://www.myhairfix.com/

Good luck!!!

Just so you know, the ingredients in Pssssst! are pretty much the same as in those more expensive brands. Paying more doesn't get you a better product.

Incidentally, we've moved our blog. Please check out the new Beauty Brains at http://thebeautybrains.com

Actually, there is a dry shampoo called Algemarin which is far better than the Psssssst.

I found the Algemarin on Amazon late last year and have been using it ever since. It really is quality stuff. I prefer it way over the Psssssst stuff.

Here is the link to Amazon:

I've used Psssssst for many years and I've had no problems with the spray cans. When I find it, I buy multiple cans at a time for economy shipping. The product is hard to find on shelves. In my experience, each can has lasted a long time--years. It sounds like a bad batch.

I can't believe this is still around... I used this as a teenager in the mid 70's. Seemed too powdery to do a good job back then, it might have changed since then.

I didn't know this product was still made....I remember it from the 60's and it is great for when your bangs get oily, but the rest of the hair is ok for another day. I decided to goggle it and here it is....I never see it in stores. does anyone know where besides ordering it online that I could get it in Atlanta area?
